Post Date: 2011-02-07 The choice to start up a family is one which most young couples end up deciding on with no trouble. For a small number of couples, that option is trickier to follow through because of some complications, one of them turning out to be infertility. One of the approaches in which infertile people have the option to continue to start their family is through IVF.

In vitro fertilization is the process in which the mans sperm and the female's eggs are joined together in a laboratory and introduced by using a professionally trained doctor. This kind of procedure doesn't always succeed the couple times a couple will try it, but for some, this is the only route they could venture down to have a good chance at having the family they want. In vitro fertilization has many benefits and the success rate can make it a great choice for a certain types of married couples.

IVF is a medical process that couples look to in order to get pregnant if the male has infertility issues, or the woman has clogged, damaged or absent fallopian tubes, or even a condition known as endometriosis. It is also used in a couple that have tried unsuccessfully for a long period of time with out success with unexplained fertility complications.

Immediately after this procedure is chosen, the female has her eggs removed from her ovaries and combined with the mans sperm in a medical laboratory. By doing this, both are able to be fertilized after which transferred to the woman's uterus to find out if a successful pregnancy can take place. The task usually transfers two to four embryos into the woman's uterus, causing multiple births some of the time. The success percentage rate is almost 22.8% live births to egg retrieval, bringing hope to many couples.

IVF was first reported and successfully utilized in 1981 in the United States, and has since produced over 45,000 babies to husbands and wives. The first successful baby to be conceived through this approach was in 1978 to Louise Brown, overseen by doctor Robert G. Edwards. He was the physician who developed this process and has since won the Nobel Prize in Physiology Medicine. This method is considered as being a safe and effective way for couples to achieve parenthood who otherwise have no chance of pregnancy.

It's really a costly approach, with each cycle costing a married couple around $80,000 dollars or more, but for married couples that have their heart set on a boy or girl that belongs to them, it's a great road to go down. Each and every couple should take the time to consider their options and the procedure with their doctor to decide if this is the right process for them.

For husbands and wives that find themselves having trouble conceiving a baby naturally, they have to begin looking at other medical avenues to conceive. IVF has become not only a safe medical alternative, but a successful one.

Though there is always a risk with every medical procedure, it is known to be a relatively safe one for both the female and the man to go through to experience their desire of becoming dads and moms. Every husband and wife deserves the ability to be parents, and this method allows even medically challenged couples the chance to have a child.
